ECOPE03 Lima – Cusco - Machu Picchu - Titicaca 8 Days/ 7 Nights

Day 1: Lima arrival

Arrival in Lima. Our guide and transport will welcome you and transfer to the hotel. Accommodations. Short briefing about next day activities.

Day 2: Lima ½ day City tour

Our tour begins in the colonial town of Lima visiting the Huaca Puccllana pre-Inca ruins, a great adobe and clay pyramid located in the Miraflores district of central Lima and built from seven staggered platforms. It served as an important ceremonial and administrative center for the advancement of the Lima Culture, a society which developed in the Peruvian Central Coast between the years of 200 AD and 700 AD. Then we go to observe the colonial buildings among thsee we find the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, San Francisco Church and its impressive "Catacombs". Later on we head towards the modern Lima, visiting the districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, followed by a visit at the modern shopping center known as Larco Mar, from where we get a splendid view of the Pacific Ocean. Day 3: Lima – Cusco – Incas Sacred Valley - Ollantaytambo

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport in Lima, flight to Cusco located at 3400m. Arrival at Cusco´s airport where our guide and transport we will waiting for you for an immediate transport to the Urubamaba Valley located at 2800m and known as the Incas Sacred Valley.  Here we will make our first visit to the beautiful Pisac Inca ruins. Later on we will enjoy a short visit to the Pisacn Indian Market and then continuing to the Inca town of Ollantaytambo where we find the impressive Inca fortress. We will make a hike to observe these impressive remains of the Inca culture. Overnight in a Hotel in Ollantaytambo. (B).

Day 4: Ollantaytambo – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Breakfast. In the morning we walk to the Ollanta train station from where we start a 1 hour nice train ride towards the village of Aguas Calientes. From this town and using the publictourist bus transport we make a 20 minutes ride up to the main entrance to the fabulous city of Machu Picchu main entrance. We will enjoy a guided tour to visit the main areas of this spectacular Inca citadel: The first portion, which is the agricultural area, has extensive terracing. From here you will enter into the main section of Machu Picchu. The city is divided into two areas. The area to the left is the Royal and Sacred Areas. The buildings on this side would have been for nobility and ceremonial purposes. To the right is the Secular Area, with a series of smaller buildings. This is where the general population would have lived. These two areas are distinctly divided by a low grassy area in between. After enjoying this visit, in the afternoon we take the bus transport down to Aguas Calientes from where we take our train to the town of Ollantaytambo and from here travel back to Cusco. Arrival and transfer to the Hotel in Cusco. B.

Day 5: Cusco ½ City Tour

In the morning we make a 4 hours city tour in Cusco, in the old times known as the capital of the Inca Empire. We will stroll on the beautiful cobbled narrow streets visiting the Plaza de Armas (Main Square) with its beautiful colonial buildings, then we go for a visit at the impressive Korikancha Temple (Temple of the Sun) now known as the Santo Domingo Church. Later on we go for a visit at the nearby Inca ruins of Cusco: Sacsayhuaman, Quenko, and Tambo Machay. Return to the hotel and enjoy a free afternoon. (B).

Day 6: Cusco - Puno

Shared (in pool) tour.

Breakfast. Using a comfortable shared tourist bus transport we travel towards Puno. The bus will follow the road heading to the southeastern direction. Our first stop will be for a visit to the Andahuaylillas Temple, where we can observe beautiful 17th century frescoes and a splendid gilded main altar. Continuing we will pass Urcos village and then stop at Raqchi for a visit at the Viracocha Inca Temple. Later on stop at Sicuani for lunch (included). Then we pass La Raya high point in the Vilcanota range, which is the highest crossing point of the White and Black Cordillera de Los Andes (4200m). Arrival in Puno and hotel accommodations. (B, L).

Day 7: Puno – Uros – Taquile.

Shared (in pool) tour.

From your hotel transfer to the shores of Titicaca Lake and by boat visit Uros, the unique floating islands located on Titicaca Lake. In this group of 40 big island-like packs of floating totora (reeds), Uros natives continue living like their ancestors, preserving their costumes and own system of communal life. Later on we continue to visit Taquile Island, where descendants from the Incas are still living, and they spin the finest woven goods in Peru. Return to Puno and transfer to your hotel. (B, L).

Day 8: Puno – Sillustani - Lima out

Breakfast. In the morning we travel from Puno to Sillustiani where we make a short tour to visit the well-known Chullpas de Sillustani, a tower built from circular stones and which was used as the burial site of the ancient Hatun Colla chiefs in the pre – Inca times. Afterwards transfer to the airport of Juliaca from where you can take your flight to the city of Lima arriving at the international airport in time for your flight back home. B.
